Pacific Northwest Equine, Inc., was formed in 1997 by Mark DePaolo, DVM. After working in traditional veterinary practices, Dr. Mark chose to further his education and specialize in equine chiropractic and acupuncture. The result has created a comprehensive approach to treating the entire horse, not just symptoms.
Experience, innovation, and a holistic approach to equine performance have enabled Pacific Northwest Equine, Inc., to become a leader in preventative and therapeutic veterinary medicine.
A commitment to exceptional personalized care partnered with a genuine passion for providing a complete health care program drive the practice. We strive to build long term relationships with clients based on integrity, willingness to help each client understand their horses’ specific concerns, and using “common sense” approaches to equine health.
Services provided include equine chiropractic, acupuncture, and nutrition evaluation. Dr. DePaolo has developed a very thorough approach to chiropractic treatments. The entire spine and muscle structure, as well as the extremities (shoulders, hips, and legs) are addressed. The horse is NOT tranquilized or restrained. All adjustments are performed by hand. NO mallets, implements, devices, or standing platforms will be used.
Acupuncture treatments significantly enhance the results of the chiropractic therapy, as it helps the adjustments hold longer, provides more pain relief and muscle relaxation, and works to correct underlying disease patterns. Performance acupuncture helps to relieve trigger points which can be a secondary issue that causes soreness and lactic acid build up. Nutritional deficiencies commonly affect performance by creating problems such as ulcers, joint pain, anxiety, tying up, muscle stiffness, and other health syndromes (such as Cushings, Insulin Resistance, EPSM).
Pacific Northwest Equine, Inc., is an ambulatory practice covering the Portland metro area, as well as the I-5 corridor south to Eugene and north to Battleground, WA. Our clientele varies widely from National Champion show horses and barrel racing horses to 4-H ponies, trail horses, and pets. Pacific Northwest Equine, Inc., does not offer routine procedures (vaccinations, deworming, dentals, etc), surgical facilities, or any after hours emergency care.
